Sustainability on the Burin Peninsula

"Only when you have felled the last tree, caught the last fish, and polluted the last river,   will you realize that you can't eat money."  Native American Elder

Sustainable Future

The BPERC promotes sustainable development that supports growth and industry. Sustainable development means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the environment and the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.  Such a strategy will allow more individuals to make a living on the Burin Peninsula for longer and keep families home.

This strategy includes supporting more environmentally-related businesses and employment opportunities on the Burin Peninsula as well as helping current organizations to become more environmentally friendly. It will also work towards its goal of sustainable development by providing opportunities for people to learn about and live in more ecologically friendly ways.
